Handling natural variation in herbs
Two lots of the same herb can differ widely in moisture and active content, so testing each lot on arrival protects every batch made from it. Grind and sieve every sample the same way, because particle size changes how much an extraction pulls out, and record moisture so results can be expressed on a dry basis. That’s what makes one lot comparable with the next.
Testing finished tablets and capsules
Herbal tablets and capsules face the same release tests as other medicines: weight variation, disintegration, dissolution where specified, and friability for tablets. A precision balance handles weight variation, and HSCo’s disintegration, dissolution and friability testers cover the rest. Running them in-house avoids waiting days for an outside lab before a batch can ship.
