Testing every batch the same way
Viscosity depends on temperature, spindle and speed, and pH depends on temperature and electrode condition. If two analysts test the same batch differently, they’ll get different numbers and argue about the product rather than the method. Write the test conditions into the method, bring samples to the same temperature in a water bath, and use instruments that store their settings. The disagreements then mean something real.
Microbiology for water-based products
Creams, lotions and shampoos contain water, and water lets bacteria and fungi grow. A cosmetic lab tests each batch for microbial limits and checks that preservatives are working. The basic set is an autoclave to sterilise media, a laminar flow cabinet to handle samples cleanly, incubators at the right temperatures, and a colony counter. It doesn’t need to be large, but it does need to be kept apart from the formulation bench.
