The HSC polarimeter measures the optical rotation of optically active substances, from −180° to +180°, to find purity, concentration and specific rotation. It uses the sodium D-line (589.44 nm) and Glan–Thompson prisms, reads optical rotation precisely (the reading and accuracy depend on the version), and takes 100 mm and 200 mm sample tubes. It is used for sugar analysis, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and essential oils.
