Where a construction project weighs, and with what

• Site gate – a weighbridge, or portable axle weigh pads on sites with no room or time for a pit, checks every truck of sand, aggregate, cement and steel.
• Concrete – a wet mix or dry mix batching plant weighs each ingredient by software, batch after batch.
• Lifting – crane scales and load links show the load on the hook before it goes up.
• Stores – platform scales check cement bags, steel bundles and fittings coming in and going out to contractors.
• Aggregate handling – belt weighers measure material on the conveyor as it runs.
• Site lab – tensile testing for reinforcement bars, sieve shakers for aggregate grading, and test weights.
