A mine is paid by the tonne, so every tonne has to be counted. Ore and coal leave on dumpers and trucks, travel on conveyors, sit in bins and stockpiles, and are sold on a weighbridge ticket. Overloaded trucks break axles and draw fines, underloaded ones waste trips, and a conveyor that nobody measures makes the month-end stock figure a guess.

Mines are remote, and every vendor who has to travel out to fix something costs days. HSCo supplies weighing across the site, from the haul road to the lab, so one service visit can look at all of it.

Getting a belt weigher to tell the truth
A belt weigher is only as good as where it’s put. It wants a straight, level run of belt away from loading points and curves, steady belt tension, and regular zero checks with the belt running empty. Put it too close to the loading chute and it measures the bounce, not the ore. When we quote a belt weigher we ask for a drawing or a few photos of the conveyor so we can recommend the right spot, because that decides the accuracy more than the weigher itself.
Weighing on remote sites
Dust, heat, long cable runs and patchy power are normal at a mine. Sealed load cells, junction boxes that balance the cells, a jumbo display the driver can read, and battery or power-bank scales for spot weighing all help. A GPS module on the scale records where each weight was taken, which matters when trucks move between several pits.
