The HSCo HSC-TC thermal cycler (PCR machine) amplifies DNA and RNA by the polymerase chain reaction, for molecular biology, genetic testing, clinical diagnostics, forensics and biotechnology. A microprocessor-controlled Peltier block heats and cools from 4 to 100 °C within ±0.2 °C, even across the block to ±0.3 °C, at up to 5 °C per second. A heated lid (100 – 110 °C) stops condensation, an optional gradient block helps find the best annealing temperature, and up to 500 programs can be stored and set up on the touch screen. Blocks take 0.2 or 0.5 ml tubes or 96- or 384-well plates, depending on the model.
