This is a ball-and-cup type double-ended shear beam load cell for weighbridges. The load passes through a steel ball seated in cups, which centres the load and gives the cell high tolerance to side loads, so the bridge stays accurate as trucks brake and turn on it. It is made of electroless nickel-plated hardened tool steel for harsh outdoor use, and suits truck scales, rail scales and ground scales.
