Running hundreds of samples a season
Soil testing labs are busiest just before sowing, when every farmer wants results at once. Instruments that are quick to calibrate and easy to run matter more then than the finest specification. Calibrate pH meters at the start of each session, run a known sample every batch, and keep spare electrodes, because a tired electrode is the most common reason pH results drift.
Seed testing
Seed labs test purity, moisture and germination. Moisture needs a moisture analyser or an oven with a balance, germination needs incubators that hold a steady temperature for days, and purity work needs a good balance and a clean bench. Accurate seed moisture also protects stored seed, because damp seed loses germination quickly.
