The HSC video spectral comparator (VSC) examines documents under ultraviolet, infrared and visible light at up to 100× magnification, so that alterations, forged entries, hidden security features and differences between inks show up on screen. It is used by forensic laboratories, banks, passport and security agencies, and quality-control departments that check printed documents.
