A rubber compound is a recipe, and a tyre is a stack of weighed parts. Carbon black, oils, sulphur, accelerators and polymers go into the mixer by weight, a few grams of an accelerator change how the rubber cures, and a finished tyre that’s off-weight usually hides a problem inside. Density and tensile strength decide whether the compound passes.

Why compounding scales matter most
In a rubber compound, the smallest ingredients do the most. A few hundred grams of accelerator or sulphur in a large batch changes cure time and properties, so an error there costs more than the same error in the polymer. Weigh small additions on a fine scale sized to them, let a relay stop each addition at its set weight, and keep a record of every batch so a failed compound can be traced in minutes.
Finished tyre weight as a quality check
A green or cured tyre that’s lighter or heavier than its specification usually means a component was missed, doubled or wrongly sized. Weighing every tyre against upper and lower limits on a platform scale with alerts catches that before it goes further down the line. It takes seconds per tyre and needs no specialist.
