Weighing Scales for the Food Processing Industry

A food factory weighs everything twice: once to make it, once to sell it. Ingredients are weighed into the batch, and the finished pack is weighed again because the weight on the label is a promise to the customer and to the Legal Metrology inspector. In between, floors get hosed down, flour dust gets everywhere, and an ordinary scale doesn’t last a monsoon.

Where a food plant weighs, and with what

• Raw material in – sacks of flour, sugar, dal and spices are checked on platform and pallet scales; tankers of milk or oil on the weighbridge.
• Mixing and batching – bench scales for small ingredients, platform scales for sacks, and tank weighing or a batch controller for syrups, oils and liquid ingredients.
