Spindle 0 is the viscometer spindle for low-viscosity liquids: water, thin oils, solvents and similar fluids that the standard spindles cannot measure well. Fitted to a rotational viscometer, it turns in the sample while the instrument measures the torque needed to keep it turning at a set speed, and that torque gives the viscosity. HSCo’s Spindle 0 is made in stainless steel.

Looking after the spindle
- Clean it after every reading, above all when switching between fluids.
- Use soft cloths and non-abrasive cleaners; a scratched spindle reads differently.
- Check for wear or corrosion after exposure to harsh chemicals.
- Store it dry and dust-free.
