The HSCo single-drum friability tester checks how well tablets stand up to handling, coating and packing. Tablets tumble in a transparent acrylic drum turning at 25 rpm, and their weight loss shows their friability. A digital counter and timer stops the test after a set number of revolutions (1 to 999) or minutes (1 to 60). A brushless DC motor keeps the speed constant. It is used in pharmaceutical QC, R&D and teaching labs.
