An HSCo weight box is a complete set of 23 stainless-steel reference weights, from 1 mg to 200 g, in a fitted carry case. It is made to the OIML accuracy classes E1, E2, F1, F2, M1 and M2, so you choose the set that matches the balances you calibrate, and it is supplied with NABL calibration.

The gram weights are knob-top cylinders, each in its own holder. The milligram weights are thin sheet weights shaped by value: triangles for 1, 10 and 100 mg, squares for 2, 20 and 200 mg, and pentagons for 5, 50 and 500 mg, so a stray piece is easy to identify.
Which class do you need?
- E1 and E2 for laboratories: analytical balances and microbalances, pharmaceutical and R&D work.
- F1 and F2 for industrial and manufacturing sites: routine calibration of industrial weighing systems and precision scales.
- M1 and M2 for trade and commercial use: checking legal-for-trade weighing scales.
Government weights and measures departments use these sets for standardisation too. The finer the class, the smaller the error each weight is allowed, so match the class to the most precise balance you look after rather than buying finer than you need.
Looking after the set
- Lift every weight with the picker, never with fingers: skin oil adds mass, above all to milligram pieces.
- Wipe with the cleaning cloth and brush off dust before use.
- Return each weight to its own slot and keep the case closed.
- Have the set recalibrated when its NABL certificate falls due.

What does E1, E2, F1, F2, M1, M2 mean?
These are OIML accuracy classes. E1 is the finest, for laboratory balances; F classes suit industrial checks; M classes suit trade scales.
