The HSCo triple dhari beam scale is a traditional hanging balance: a painted steel beam with a hook at each end and a centre hanger, used to weigh loads against standard weights. Its knife edges are high-speed steel, and the three-knife-edge design keeps it accurate. It is extremely rugged and takes loads up to 30% above its rated capacity; some scrap dealers have used theirs for more than 40 years. It needs no power, and a pan and chains are available.
