An HSCo GSM kit measures GSM, grams per square metre, the weight of a material sheet per unit area. A round GSM cutter punches a sample of exact area from fabric, paper, film or non-woven; a precision digital scale weighs it; the GSM follows directly. It is used for quality checks in textile mills, paper and packaging units, non-woven and film plants, and QC labs.
How GSM testing works
- Place the material on the cutting pad and press the GSM cutter to punch a round sample of standard area.
- Weigh the sample on the precision scale, inside its draft shield.
- Convert the weight to grams per square metre: the cutter’s fixed area makes this a simple multiplication, or GSM calculation software does it for you.
